Dr Mora surgical video (WARNING: THIS IS A LIVE SURGICAL VIDEO. THERE WILL BE BLOOD)

On the topic of Chronic Pectoralis Major Tendon Tears, most Pectoralis Major Tendon tears are usually treated within a few days after the initial injury. However, some patients will only start to present issues many months after the injury. These tears are common in Mixed Martial Arts athletes and in weightlifters. Some surgeons prefer not to attempt a repair if the injury has been greater than six weeks. The thought is that the repair will not be possible due to shrinkage of the torn ends.

▶️ I have had a lot of experience treating tears that were six months to two years out from injury. Most of these were in high-level Mix Martial Arts athletes. I’ve been able to repair some of these just like I would a fresh tear. In a few cases I’ve had to use a cadaver graft.

▶️The video shows a tear that was greater than six months old. I was able to find the two stumps and suture them back together with high tensile strength sutures. Please let me know what you think.
