Over the last 10 years I have dedicated my Orthopedic Surgery practice to treating Mixed Martial Arts related injuries. I have treated many combat athletes with elbow problems, most of them high-level UFC and/or Bellator fighters. I have identified an injury pattern unique to combat sports which includes elbow pain, locking, loss of motion specially stiffness and anterior pain with forced flexion. I coined the term “Cauliflower Elbow” to describe this traumatic degenerative condition. If caught early it responds to non-surgical treatment. When it gets severe or locking occurs then arthroscopic surgery is extremely helpful. If you Google Cauliflower Elbow Steve Mora M.D you can read more information about this condition.
BTW this is a old video of Marlon “Chito” Vera. Since this fight he has been on a winning streak.
