Canelo Alvarez set for arthroscopic surgery on left elbow Oct. 23, will be in sling
Boxing superstar Canelo Álvarez is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left elbow on October 23 in Orange, California.
The procedure comes after the diagnosis of “loose bodies” in his elbow, and once it’s completed, Canelo will wear a sling, with a rehabilitation plan allowing light training in about 4–6 weeks and likely full return to competition expected in second or third quarter of 2026.
The surgery will be performed by Dr. Steve Mora.
The news delays Canelo’s previously planned fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which was expected under his four-fight deal for February.
Previously in his career he underwent surgeries on his right knee (2018) and left wrist (2022).
